General Secretary, Urdu Writers Society of North America

Nasreen Afshan has been a dedicated member of the Urdu Writers Society of North America for the past 20 years, serving diligently as the General Secretary. Her journey with society has been marked by her unwavering commitment to promoting Urdu literature and supporting fellow writers in the community.

Nasreen was born in Karachi, Pakistan, where she completed her high school education at National High School in North Nazimabad. She then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Arts from City College. With a keen interest in science, she also obtained a certificate in General Chemistry from Long Beach College, California.

In 1982, Nasreen moved to America.  She is married to a wonderful husband, Mohammad Aslam. Nasreen Afshan has two daughters, one son, and five grandchildren. Nasreen's family remains her greatest source of joy and support.

Nasreen's professional journey began in 1984 when she started her own business. She later ventured into the grocery business in 1990. From 1994 to 2020, she worked as a lab manager and chemist with US Dyeing and Finishing, where she played a crucial role in the company's operations. After retiring, she continued to stay active
by working from home on her business ventures.
