Mustaqim Syed has been serving the Urdu-speaking community as a dedicated board member of the Urdu Writers Society of North America for over 10 years. His commitment and contributions have significantly enriched society, fostering a deeper appreciation for Urdu literature and culture across the region.
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Mustaqim Syed completed his early education from Primary to Secondary at Marie Colaco School in Nazimabad, Karachi. He then pursued his Intermediate and BS in Chemistry at Shipowners College in North Nazimabad, Karachi.
In December 1981, Mustaqim migrated to America with his parents and siblings. By January 1982, he bought an American grocery store. Within four months, he found a job in his field as a Chemist in a multinational biochemical technology company, Bachem, Inc.
Mustaqim's career is marked by significant accomplishments. He held various key positions, including Group Leader, Assistant Director, and Director, and served 25 years as a Senior Director of Production before taking early retirement after a well-established 42-year career.
In 2010, Mustaqim, along with a group of community members, founded an Islamic center in the Palos Verdes Peninsula area, known as IQRA Academy of Palos Verdes. He served as the president for 12 consecutive years before resigning in 2022. Despite stepping down, he remains an active member of the organization.
Mustaqim is also involved in several other notable community organizations. His activism extends to social justice and various community services, reflecting his dedication to improving society and helping those in need.
In 1985, Mustaqim married Dr. Shaesta Syed, a graduate of DOW Medical College. Allah blessed them with four beautiful children, all of whom have earned their Masters in their respective fields and are happily married. Mustaqim is a dedicated grandfather to all of his grandchildren and enjoys spending quality time with them.
