Urdu Writers Society of North America was established in 2003. The founder and the president of the society, Mr. Irfan Murtaza,
CEO, Mr. Mohammad Kalam, and the co-founder Mr. Asif Syed (Late) organized the society to promote the Urdu language in North America. The society was formed under the guidelines of Mr. Abu Bakr Vakil (Late and Mr. Abdul Saleem Hai.
Urdu Writers Society of North America's main goal is to promote the Urdu writers and poets, who are living in North America and serving the language. Since 2003, the society has arranged various literary events including international mushairas (Poetry Sessions) and book signings, literary evenings, etc.
